Since Thanksgiving weekend is the busiest retail time of year, you may be hard pressed to find a deal. Suggest looking at various hotel websites directly for last minute specials. Some may have cancellations due to Broadway strike. Might also consider nycvisit.com for deals. If you are definitely coming, priceline.com will allow you to bid for rooms but be advised you have to accept wherever if your bid is accepted.
If price is a primary consideration, consider staying in NJ and taking the train in to Midtown.
Good luck!

Hotels in NY are expensive especially during the holiday period. Try staying in New Jersey instead. Good luck!

We stayed at the Park Central near Carnegie Hall. It was very clean, quiet, and a short 10 block walk from Times Square and the happenings. It wasn't terribly expensive either about one half what the Marriott in Times Square was asking.

If they're not already sold out, the cheapest hotels I've found in the city are the Gershwin, the Bedford, the Paramount, and the W hotels, in that order, cheapest to most expensive.
Long Island, Jersey, and Westchester will probably have cheaper hotels, and are more likely to have vacancies. A lot of those places will be right by a train station, also.
