Florida Getaway! On The Cheap….?

Looking to revive myself after the holidays sucked all the positive energy out of my soul. I get all these last minute deal offers from Expedia and such, but after investigating, its all B.S.! We want to go down to the Keys, or southern Florida from St. Louis, non-stop. We want a beach front hotel for 3 nights, but only want to pay $300 +/- per person for a Fri-Mon stay. Is this possible? I don’t care about 4 or 5 star hotels, just so long as it is ON the beach, and has a pool with a happy, generous bartender. Is this a do-able mini vacation? Ideas? Suggestions for my sanity? Thanks!

If you are not picky about where in Florida, just want something south and on a beach. check out a place called the edgewater lodge. it is about half way down into the keys and like the name, its on the water and usually has decent prices. somewhere around mile marker 69, i think. i’ve had friends stay there that loved it. i’ve only driven by going to key west myself but looks nice.
    good luck…

Doable but not at those prices unless you want to cram 4-5 people in a cheap room in a cheap place in Hollywood a la spring break.

The Topaz Motel in Flagler Beach is small, clean, as close to the beach as you can get, and under $100 a night. There is no tiki bar, but there is a liquor store within walking distance. If you can arrange transportation from Daytona airport, you don’t really need a car for a weekend in Flagler Beach, a tiny quiet oceanside community north of Ormond Beach. There aren’t any nightclubs or attractions to speak of, just a quiet little town on a beautiful beach.
